The Probate Division at D.C. Courts is accepting applications for Program Manager (Probate Self Help Center) (JS-13, $94,796-$123,234). This position is located in the Office of the Register of Wills/Probate Division of the District of Columbia Superior Court and reports to the Register of Wills. The Probate Division Self-Help Center Program Manager will oversee the daily management and operations of a newly created Self-Help Center. The Probate Division Self-Help Center, which is a new program of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia, is responsible for providing free information and assistance to unrepresented people in a variety of probate law matters (such as administration of estates, small estates, and guardianship of adults and minors). The Self-Help Center answers questions, provides a roadmap for handling decedent estates, assists with completion of forms, provides a wide array of information in the form of brochures and videos, and explains how to navigate the court process and what to expect in court. This position supervises clerical, paralegal, and professional staff within the Branch and is responsible for ensuring that service to the public is consistent, courteous, professional, and reflects the values of the DC Courts
Minimum qualifications: Graduation from an accredited university or college with a law degree plus at least three (3) years of legal experience actively engaged in the practice of law with at least one (1) or more years of experience dealing with probate matters in the District of Columbia or have experience or knowledge on the administration of the estates of deceased persons in the District of Columbia. Experience must include at least one (1) year of experience managing employees in a public service, agency, court system or legal environment.
