Sentelle, David B.

Appointed: October 17, 1987

Judge Sentelle is married to Jane LaRue Oldham and has three daughters. He

graduated with honors in 1968 from the University of North Carolina Law School. From

1968 to 1970, he was an Associate with the firm of Uzzell and Dumont, in Asheville, North

Carolina. He worked as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in Charlotte, North Carolina from 1970

to 1974. From 1974 he was a North Carolina State District Judge in Charlotte until he

became a partner of Tucker, Hicks, Sentelle, Moon and Hodge in 1977. Judge Sentelle

was also an adjunct professor in the Department of Criminal Justice at the University of

North Carolina. In the Fall of 1985, he joined the Western District of North Carolina where he

served as United States District Judge in Asheville until his present appointment to the

United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.
